This notice explains how SMC Children Services uses your information when you apply for a role or register your interest in working with us.
What we collect
- Your name, email address and phone number
- The vacancy you are applying for, or your preferred role and location
- Your CV and/or completed application form, and any message you send us
- Later in the process: interview notes, references and the outcome of a Garda check
Why we use it
We use your information to assess your suitability for the role you have applied for, to contact you about your application, and to meet our safeguarding and legal obligations for safe recruitment. If you register your interest, we use your details to contact you about suitable future vacancies.
Our legal basis
We process applications because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into an employment contract, and because we have legal obligations as an employer and a provider of children’s services. We keep Register Your Interest details on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who can see it
Only SMC’s recruitment team and the managers involved in the selection process. Your documents are stored in protected, access-controlled storage. They are never publicly accessible and are not indexed by search engines.
How long we keep it
- Unsuccessful applications: 12 months after the role closes, then deleted securely
- Register Your Interest submissions: 12 months, or sooner if you ask us to delete them
- Successful candidates: your information becomes part of your employee record
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, or withdraw your interest registration at any time, by emailing recruitment@smccs.ie. You can also contact the Data Protection Commission.
